Gold Laced Wyandotte

Well, hey there! I’m Rachael, a Gold Laced Wyandotte, named after none other than Rachael Maddow herself — because I’m sharp, charismatic, and let’s be honest, I look amazing on camera. Just look at these feathers — all black and gold like I stepped straight out of a high-end fashion spread. I’m the kind of chicken that turns heads when I strut by.

As a Wyandotte, I’m all about that balance: I’m a dependable layer of lovely, medium-sized light brown eggs, but I’m not one to get all broody and dramatic about it. Nope, I’m steady, reliable, and I like to keep my cool — just doing my job, delivering those eggs like clockwork, with a little bit of sparkle.

I’ve got a calm and curious temperament, but I’m definitely the brains of the operation around here. I’m always watching, observing, making sure the other girls don’t get too far off track. And sure, I enjoy a good forage and a dust bath like anyone else, but what I really love is hanging out near the house, where I can keep an eye on things. I call it investigative journalism.

Oh, and I’m not above a spirited conversation, either. My human says I “talk a lot,” but really, I’m just keeping everyone informed. You know, the truth matters. And if my delivery of the morning squawk happens to be a little... pointed? Well, it’s only because I care.
